Touch Me Not
So this poem has a cool story. While I was at Ellerslie, a 5-week Bible Summit in Windsor Colorado, I heard a message titled, We will not Fear. The speaker shared a true story that happened during the time of the Roman Empire. There was a stag that was given a plaque around its neck with these words inscribed on it: "I belong to Caesar, Touch Me not." That stag had the freedom to travel anywhere in the kingdom and even wander into enemy territory, remaining safe because of who he belonged to. The same is true for us as Christians. You see, we belong to Jesus which means that we carry His Name. We have the knowledge that the enemy has no say over our lives except for what we choose to give him. And even in our hardest moments, he has no legal right over us, we are no longer his slaves.
The session really impacted my heart and directly afterward, the Holy Spirit gave me this poem. I pray it encourages your heart and reminds you of the authority you carry as a child of the King because of the Cross.
Touch Me Not
9/25/23
I'm broken on the ground
Storms raging all around
Lies seek to drag me down
Touch me not.
I'm crying out for worth
Forgetting my new birth
The enemy surrounds
Touch me not.
I'm trembling in my fear
The failure feels so near
I cannot make a sound.
Touch me not.
But in me, there's a song
An anthem playing strong
I will not taste defeat
Touch me not!
This is my battle cry
And will be till I die
For I belong to Christ,
Touch me not!
Truth will be my sword
My heart in one accord
His Spirit reigns within
Touch me not!
He's faithful come what may
So again my soul will say
My trust is in My King
Touch me Not!
Father, fix my eyes on you
Give me perspective new
I choose to fight from Victory
So devil,
Touch me not!
